Dreamz 3 - 2 AMKSS

Goals:
35min: Fongguan
48min: Aik Meng
60min: Benjamin

Dreamz enters 2009 unbeaten in previous 4 games, from which they have scored more than 20 goals. The final scoreline on their first match of 2009 doesn’t fairly justify Dreamz dominance.

This is a match that Dreamz should won by a more comfortable margin. Though they failed to fire on all cylinders, Dreamz have acquired the knack of grinding out victories in pressing circumstances.

Credit also goes to the AMKSS who refused to buckle. At 3-0 up on the hour mark, Dreamz should have cruised home. Instead, they reached the final whistle rattled as 2opportunistic strikes by AMKSS breathed new life into the contest and forced Dream to fight and cling on for a win.

First half

Dreamz starts the game in a familiar 4-3-3 attack formation.

Though it was a slow start, the positive thing to take out of the first half is the fact that Dreamz created many opportunities and have many shots on target.

Dreamz is fast to take control of the pace of the game. Their skill supremacy is evident as most ball play is in the opponent half.

AMKSS is quick to close in and didn’t give Dreams midfield much space. Often Desmond is surrounded by more than 2 players while he looks to tread his pass to the 3 man strike-force of Fong Guan, Aik Meng and Elvin.

Dreamz persistency is rewarded in the 35min when Fong Guan out-muscled the defense to score from a through ball by Colin.

With Colin stamping his usual authority in midfield and excellent defensive partnership of Jun Wei and Guan Quan has limit AMKSS from creating any chances at Dreamz half.

Second half

Dreamz started the second half with the same commanding pace to the first.

Aik Meng doubled Dreamz’s lead with superb skill with a shot from outside the right edge of the penalty box that curved into the left far post, giving the keeper no chance.

Dreamz's leads were further extended shortly through a corner by Desmond. Though Junwei has the opportunity to score, he unselfishly presently the chance to Ben, who powerfully head home.

And although AMKSS was put under intense pressure, they soon started to confront Dreamz all over the pitch. A free kick at the edge of the penalty box was well saved by Joo. However, hope of clean sheet was not fulfill in this match. On 72min, an well taken free kick on the right side of the penalty box by the opponent creped under out-stretched arm of Joo.

Dreamz commitment to attack left them vulnerable at the back. As a cross was delivered from a attack down the left wing, their striker timed his run perfectly to head in powerfully, leaving Joo no chance.

Another potential match with AMKSS awaits as both teams looking to improve in their displays.
